Castle Crashers Review

Review
Castle Crashers Rated T
Xbox,PS3 and PC

Have you ever wanted to ride a deer in a video game? How about a deer that’s shooting crap everywhere and at the same time you are being chased by a giant hairball thing?  Well in Castle Crashers you can!

Plot
Castle Crashers is a 2D game where you and up to 3 friends can battle the forces of evil while trying to get to the princesses they stole from you. You may be thinking to yourself “Well that sounds kinda boring, that’s been done before.”  Castle Crasher‘s takes that plot and brings it to a whole new level of awesomeness. Along the way of getting to the princesses you will fight everything, from scorpions to knights to giant cats that shoot hairballs at you.

Gameplay
The gameplay of this game was great. The game allows you to have one weapon, a shield, a bow, and a pet. You are also given things like potions and sandwiches that turn you into the Hulk. Pets are something that I thought were very cool. There are many pets that you can unlock in the game.  To name just a few, there was a Cat that allowed you to jump higher, a Ram that would bash into enemies during combat and knock them down, and there was even a Giraffe that helps you level up faster. There was only one flaw that my friends and I came across and that was that the weapons didn’t tell you if they were better than what you already had. The weapon would just say +1 no matter what weapon you had, even if you had the same weapon in your hand.

Controls
My friends and I played the game on PC and to begin with the controls were awful. The controls were all over the place and none of us were able to play with them the default way.  The other thing that was a little odd was that the game was still coded for the Xbox, so rather than say right click to heavy attack it would say press B, so that was a little off, but all in all it was fine.

Verdict
This game had everything a good game needs, good combat, good plot and humor.  My friends and I sat there and played this game all the way through in two sittings so the game is rather short (around 5ish hours), but the game was well worth it.

I give Castle Crashers 8 out of 10
